Tian Yuanyu was awarded the National Innovation and Excellence Award Certificate

On May 30th, the Fourth National Innovation and Excellence Award Commendation Conference was held in Beijing. Professor Tian Yuanyu from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of our university has been included in the list of recipients of the "National Innovation Award Certificate".

Tian Yuanyu, a professor of the second level and a doctoral supervisor, is a young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions and an expert who enjoys the government's special allowance from the State Council, the current director of the National Key Laboratory of Heavy Fuel Oil of the university, the head of the national first-class undergraduate program in "Energy Chemistry Engineering", and had been dedicated to innovation and application of clean and efficient utilization of carbon-containing energy for a long time, developed the molecular coal chemistry theory, solving the problem of coal structure and reactivity that had puzzled the international coal chemistry community for over 200 years; Developed a series of transformative technologies such as the utilization of low-quality coal rich in humic acid, the zone gasification of pulverized coal, and the staged catalytic thermal decomposition of rich-oil coal, achieve original breakthroughs in equipment technology for the clean and efficient utilization of petroleum, biomass and organic solid waste, etc, a number of achievements have been included by relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the National Energy Administration as key technologies for promotion, provide strong support for national energy security and the green and low-carbon transformation. He authorized 127 invention patents (including 18 in the United States), published 216 papers, authored one book, and formulated 7 industry group standards, and he won the Second Prize of the National Technology Invention Award, the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and 19 provincial and ministerial-level first prizes as the first principal recipient, and won honorary titles such as National Advanced Worker, National Outstanding Science and Technology Worker in the Petroleum and Chemical Industry, and Outstanding Communist Party Member of Shandong Province.

The "National Award for Outstanding Innovation" is jointly organized by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, it is an important part and supplement of the national science and technology award system, and is evaluated and commended once every three years, commendation is given to groups and individuals who have made outstanding contributions in basic research and frontier exploration, major equipment and engineering research, technology transfer and innovation entrepreneurship, as well as social services. Among them, the number of scientific and technological workers who receive certificates each time is no more than 300.
